Velvety Goodness

Velvet.  It’s luxe, it’s plush….. and it begs to be touched.

It’s the perfect fabric to ring in the holidays and it’s also one of this season’s hottest trends.

From designer to street-style and fast fashion, velvet is EVERYWHERE this season in every form- slip dresses, bombers, gowns, blazers, pants, tops, bags, chokers and all of those oh so Bowie boots!

One of my favorite things about the trend is that even the cheaper fabrics can look gorge when you’re wearing velvet so you don’t have to spend a ton!  My pal Lindsey from TheNomisNiche has a stunning velvet slip dress she got at Target that looks just as luxe as any designer piece.

Have you been wanting to dip your toes in the velvet trend but not sure how?

First of all shake off your preconceived notions about this fabric it doesn’t have to be fancy or reserved for cocktail parties and black tie events. Try incorporating it into your day-to-day wardrobe, it’s more versatile than you think.

The easiest fail-proof way to wear the velvet trend is with an outfit add-on.

Start with a neutral look and then add in velvet accessories or a blazer.

Whether your velvet choice is shoes, boots or bags, velvet will gives any outfit an element of refinement.

I have been obsessed with this luxe and lovely Fine and Sandy blazer from MODCLOTH.  It is super comfortable, ridiculously chic and you can’t beat the price-point (just $79.99).

The cropped ruched sleeves make it an excellent date for happy hour- no accidentally dipping your sleeve into anything- and the color is just ga-ga-gorgeous!

Add in a velvet choker or velvet neck tie, heels and a clutch and you are rockin’ velvet like a pro!
