The Body Shop Brush With Fashion

Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the Brush with Fashion event at The Body Shop where they launched a new limited edition make-up collection in collaboration with the London College of Fashion.  Make-up, Fashion and Sustainable!  This event was made for me!

The new sustainable, cruelty free, fashion forward make-up and accessories collection includes built in brushes and community fair-trade ingredients such as marula oil (rich in antioxidants, vitamins B and C and is excellent for moisturizing).

The exclusive packaging design was the result of a joint The Body Shop and London College of Fashion student competition. The winning artwork created by Katarina Voloder, a German 21 year old fashion illustration undergraduate. The Body Shop explained, “Her amazing design is built around a makeup sketch of an eye, lips and makeup brush, giving the packaging a strong fashion forward feel.  This combined with the starburst fan effect with splashes of color to convey the chic shades of the new collection. “

At the event, guests were treated to a personal makeup consultation and makeover with celebrity beauty expert Shalani Vadhera.

Shalani showed the collection, gave makeovers and tips on how to get this seasons hottest looks: Natural face with peachy fresh lips and soft smokey eyes.

My top picks from the collection would have to be the Hi-Shine Lip Treatment, Tailored Cheek Tint, Limited Collection for the Eyes and the Illuminating Face Base.

The Hi-Shine Lip Treatment has a built in brush and a moisturizing luxurious feel, plus a sweet peach flavor.  I couldn’t get over how amazing it felt when Shalani put it on my lips!  Use it by itself or over a color. It contains Community Fair Trade marula oil and avocado oil for intense moisturization!

Tailored Cheek Tint is super cool.  It goes on a clear liquid gel then adjusts to your own PH balance and produces a perfect rosy glow that lasts (powdered cheek products tend to wear off quickly).

The Limited Collection for the Eyes gives you everything you need in one compact package.  Drop it in your bag for touch-ups anytime!  Each contains 4 complementary eye colors, a mini eye definer, a mini eye shadow brush and a mirror.  Offered in 2 colors Palette 01: Boho Beauty (matte shades of nude, apricot and browns) and Palette 02: A La Mode (pearlized white, pink and silver with a intense matte black).

Shalani used the Boho Beauty Palette on me.  The colors went on beautifully creating a earthy smokey look.  Use them wet or dry! She also showed me a great trick: layer black and brown pencil to get a softer smokey eye that isn’t as harsh as using black alone.  The result is chic and glamourous.

The Illuminating Face Base creates a beautiful apricot glow beneath your foundation.  Sweep it across your face with the integrated brush before applying foundation. This beauty booster includes Community Fair Trade Marula Oil plus apricot pigments, light diffusing pearls and mica to create a soft focus effect. (I have been wearing this all week and have received numerous compliments on how great my skin looks!  Ladies this is a MUST HAVE!)

  2. I subscribe & I plan to make my beauty routine more sustainable by using products that don’t harm the environment & use recyclable materials! 🙂

  3. As a makeup artist, I try and recommend products to my clients with the least amount of chemicals possible. Our skin is so important. I am changing over my kit to use more products with less chemicals AND that dont test on animals. I checked out Body shop and am so happy that they do NOT test on innocent animals! Body shop is so irresistible. You cant walk by and not catch a wiff of the amazing aroma coming from the store. I bet these shower gels can do the same at home! 😉
