How to Wear Multiple Trends at the Same Time

How to Wear Multiple Trends at the Same Time

Trends are fluid.

That is one big fashion lesson I try to teach my clients.

With every season comes new trends and it’s no secret how excited I’ve been for this fall. I’ve posted about my favorite trends countless times in the last few weeks- even braving 115 degree heat wearing layers to get those photos… lol.

This season there are so many trends to fall in love with that it’s hard to settle on just one and you don’t have to!  You CAN wear multiple trends at the SAME TIME.  You have probably already been doing it and didn’t even realize!

Because of the fluidity of trends combining them can create a look that is not only visually interesting but also unique and packed with your own personal style!

Don’t know where to begin? Pairing trends is easy once you get the hang of it.  To get your started, I put together a few of my guidelines and tips that will have you rockin’ multiple fall trends together at once like a fashion pro.

  1. Pick a Statement Piece to be the focal point of your look. Having one statement piece like this allows you to strategically work the remainder of your outfit around one theme. Whether you’re highlighting a fun print or a unique cut, this will serve as the anchor to your look.
  2. Combine high with low new with old. Keeping up with trends doesn’t always have to be expensive. I’m a huge fan of mixing old pieces with new and fast-fashion, vintage and thrifted pieces with luxe brands.
  3. Make a Color Story. Use one color to carry through and tie it all together.  Choosing a complementary color palette will help keep your trending looking streamlined.
  4. Know What Works For You. Confidence is key. If you like it, wear it and rock it! People respond to and are drawn to confidence!  So, if you’re feeling it, everyone else will too!

Fall 2018 is packed with fun trends so I put together a look featuring four of my favorites: Western Inspired, Plaid, 90s grunge and Florals.

This gorgeous floral dress from Smak Parlour is my Statement Piece.  I paired it with a Western Inspired denim jacket, suede bag and bandana then layered in 90’s grunge-esc combat boots and a plaid shirt which hits both the 90’s grunge and the plaid trend.  The plaid shirt ties in the red from the floral print to help bring the look together.

Four trends, one cohesive look!  Give it a try!

What trends will you be combining this Fall?

Stylist’s Tip: It’s time to dust off those Dr. Martens you wore in college- combat boots are back as one of Fall’s hottest shoe trends!

Saddle Up with Fall 2018’s Western Trend

Fall 2018 western Trend

The western trend is to Fall what the floral trend is to Spring, it always comes back in one form or another and I have to say, I’m not mad about it.

I love a great western gypsy rock star vibe.  So eclectic, so cool and it always looks so totally effortless.

The western trend hit the runways in many forms for Fall 2018 from heavy cowboy-style characteristics, like shirts with stand-out yoke details and loads of swingy fringe at Coach to rodeo-ready looks at DSQUARED2 and an American heritage mood and Isabel Marant.  Even Louis Vuitton threw in a few bolo ties in their show!

It’s also probably the most wearable trend of the season. It translates easily from runway to reality, is great for every body type and a fit for every age!

Whether you choose to go cowboy-glam a la Rhinestone Cowboy or Nostalgic Americana-  rustic belts, aged boots, prairie florals, calico prints, denim and of course fringe are the elements you need to complete your western wardrobe.

I give this trend three Yee Haw’s and a Yippie Ki-yay!

Stylists Tip: This season one of the HOTTEST shoe trends is cowboy boots with metal tips.  Score a pair now and rock them all the way through winter.

One of a Kind Gifts at Kemo Sabe

Kemo Sabe Las Vegas Forum Shops

A few months ago I styled a fashion show for Luxury Las Vegas and I recieved a ton of messages on INSTAGRAM asking me where I found the AMAZING cowboy hats and boots I used in the show.

They all came from a hidden little gem at The Forum Shops at Ceasars Palace, Kemo Sabe.

With outposts in Aspen (their flagship) Vail and Las Vegas, Kemo Sabe has established themselves as a leader in contemporary Western Wear by combining old west traditions with fashion forward designs offering unique never duplicated products.

Not just for cowboys, western inspired pieces are one of the biggest trends right now.  Even Victoria’s Secret saddled up to the trend. The global lingerie company invaded Aspen this summer with an army of Angels for its 2017 holiday campaign donning Kemo Sabe’s iconic hats, chaps, belts, and boots.

With this being the season for shopping and with the NFR in town (yee haw) I thought now is the perfect time to share some of my favorite unique finds from Kemo Sabe.

Kemo Sabe True Grit Hats

Kemo Sabe Grit Cowboy Hats.

These hats are EVERYTHING. Each hat is one of a kind and hand-made in the USA. Kemo Sabe scours every square inch of the American West searching for the perfect materials and items from which to craft these gorgeous toppers from start to finish by their in house Milliner. What really sets these hats apart is the cool worn in look they have and the fact that they are fully customizable. Personalize it with a hatband, add dried flowers, or have your initials branded on it!   They will even use their a Hat steamer to shape it just how you want it.
