Stuart Weitzman SS18 Collection

Stuart Weitzman SS18 Collection

Most of the buzz lately surrounding footwear brand Stuart Weitzman has been the SS18 ad campaign.

The campaign has made fashion history by featuring Gigi Hadid and Kate Moss, photographed together for the very first time. Shot by renowned fashion photographer Mario Testino, the images capture two iconic supermodels embodying the brand’s multi-generational appeal while showcasing the essential silhouettes of the season.

I, of course, wanted to get a first hand peek at the collection so I popped over to the Stuart Weitzman boutique at the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and it’s even better than I imagined.

The Stuart Weitzman SS18 Collection marks Creative Director Giovanni Morelli’s second collection with the brand.  Morelli is the first person other than Mr. Weitzman himself to helm the accessories brand in its 32-year history.

For me it’s the beginning of an exciting new era for Stuart Weitzman.  Still holding true to their iconic classic style yet in an updated, refreshed and refined way.

The collection was inspired by the architectural sensibility of sensual curves and focuses on texture and details.  Curve details make a showing in everything from heels to straps, hardware and silhouettes.

Opulent satins, buttery nappas, suedes, exotic snakeskin and crystal embellishments highlight texture and flow effortlessly through the collection creating unusual pairings that are works of art- like the satin straps on the Botanical Jacquard pieces.  Two fabrics that on paper don’t work but when brought together on a shoe are pure summer magic!

Floral details are a recurring motif throughout the collection blossoming in every category from edgy metallic rose stud details on slides to pretty ladylike hand painted florals on python pointy toes and sandals.  How gorgeous are these!

Bold Vibrant Color is key for S/S 2018 and there is no shortage of that in this collection.  There is an entire wall dedicated to the season’s hottest love story: Pink and red.

..and then it was love at first sight.  My handbag loving heart skipped a beat when my eyes met this beauty, The Petite Harness.

Crafted from satin it’s a modernist take on the backpack.  It features a foldover compartment with an interior pocket. Its front satin sash is detachable. Wear it with a gown for luxe contrast or pair with trousers for a street-wear chic vibe.  The styling possibilities with this unique beauty are endless!

Charlotte Olympia An Accessory To Murder Collection

“On a dark night, two girls found themselves in the wrong place at the right time and I was about to get caught in a Spider’s web. A web of beautiful women, high heels, leopard print and murder”.

To the backdrop of a classic film noir tale, Charlotte Olympia launches the Autumn Winter 2017 collection. There’s a victim, a detective, a heroine and one serious shoe plot to unravel. And so, the case begins.

The Collection is shown in full Film Noir style in a Fashion film Directed by Sophie Edelstein.

Inspired by 40s film greats like Lauren BacallBarbara Stanwyck and Rita Hayworth, designer Charlotte Olympia’s fall line of shoes, bags and accessories is an ode to Film Noir and it’s stylish mystery and mayhem.

This Collection is everything my retro-loving fashion heart could ask for.  It’s the monotone story of femme fatale style with pops of powerful pinks and heartbreaker reds.

‘In fabulous shoes, a girl can get away with anything’

Nods to iconic Film Noir symbols are present throughout the collection including rotary dial telephone bags, killer leopard prints, glamorous gloves, heart motif stilettos, lace up heeled tweed and suede Oxfords, framed handbags, pearl embellished Cinderella heels and of course newsprint.

Here’s a peek at the Collection that is making headlines this season and remember fellas “Never come between a girl and her shoes”.

Knock on Wood: Clogs are Hot for Summer 2017

Chanel Wood Slides

Clogs are totally hot for summer 2017, once known as a folksy shoe worn by gardeners and smurfs, the clog has come a long way from its humble orthopedic foot care beginnings.

This iconic style was originally made famous in the late 1960s by Dr. Scholls, the sandal’s raised toe crest and contoured sole encourage natural gripping and flexing when walking. Perfectly simple, playfully chic, and crafted in wood to last through the years, the Original Exercise Sandals were an unexpected fashion hit and has remained a feminine favorite for decades.

According to well known fashion lore: Clogs come back in style every seven years.  The last time they made a huge showing was in the 2011 shows (which happened in 2010 so get out your calculators folks… was 7 years ago) they remained front and center the whole year once fashion darling Alexa Chung adopted them as her go to style.  Then last year we got a sneak peek of the trend rearing its head again in fur lined versions at Gucci and Fendi.

Thanks to the revival of 1970s style and all things boho, clogs have made their way into the summer 2017 collections of just about EVERYONE. From Saint Laurent’s studded prints to Chloe’s organic modernist take, clogs have been given a cool fashion update for spring that is anything but folksy.

Effortlessly chic, easy to wear and oh so comfy they will give your feet a much needed summer vacation.

Whether you choose to rock them in the form of slides, sky high platforms, strappy sandals or slip-on mules there is no disputing that wood soles are hot hot hot this season and don’t forget to keep ahold of them when the season ends because the trend will be back again in 7 years, hello Spring/Summer 2024.
