Embellished Collar Trend

Embellished Collar Trend

Embellished pieces are everywhere this season, from jewel lined dresses to high ultra ruffled Edwardian necklines and fringe covered coats but the one trend that really has me swooning is the embellished collar trend!

We saw this trend pop up back in 2012 and thanks to designers like Gucci and the constantly collar clad Betty on Riverdale it’s back again, and I have to say- I’m not mad about it. From rhinestone encrusted pointy 70s inspired collars to lady-like beaded and pearl adorned Peter Pan styles the embellished collar is back baby!

This smallest dash of quirk is a perfect seasonal pick-me-up for your wardrobe.  Embellished collars set a chic retro-inspired mood, instantly elevate your look and BONUS you don’t really have to worry about accessorizing because it’s done for you!

Totally versatile wear then to work with trousers or out on the town with a flirty skirt- you can even dress then down with edgy jeans and a leather jacket- the best part is that this trend has a little something for everyone!

From feminine and sweet to effortlessly boho and cuts-like-a-knife edgy you really can’t go wrong this season when you stick out your neck for this oh-so-chic trend.

Easy Everyday Style: Skirts and Sneakers

Sneakers and Skirts

I have been LIVING in skirts and sneakers.

I love to be comfortable, especially when running errands or prepping for a shoot, so I would rock sneakers every day if I could. By pairing sneakers with skirts, I’m able to wear them to work and meetings a lot more than I care to admit without anyone even batting an eye.

Sneakers are just ‘the thing’ to give your summer wardrobe a little edge by instantly uping the cool factor of skirts and dresses. Midi skirts lose their prim when paired with sneakers and cocktail dresses get less fancy and more ‘fashion’ when worn with gym shoes.

Mastering this out-of-the-box pairing is actually pretty dang easy.

An easy belted maxi dress with Adidas Stan Smiths? Check.
A power skirt suit with some sporty Nike’s? Absolutely.
A swishy skirt and tee with retro skater style Vans? Oh yeah.

It’s all about finding a sneaker style that you love and feel happy pairing with your dresses and skirts. There are so many styles out there to choose from- chunky dad shoes, platform sneakers, retro slip-on’s and crisp classic Stan Smith’s- so my advice is stick with a style that you feel comfortable in and that flatters your ankles and feet.

For those of you who are new to the whole sneakers with dresses and skirts thing, the easiest way is probably a sleek simple sneaker- think Converse or Vans. The athletic sneakers and dad shoes are a little harder to pair and will depend on your individual style and preference. I personally love the look because it’s edgy and fashion forward but it may not be for everyone.

Give the skirt/dress sneaker pairing a try, not only will you earn major style points for thinking outside the box, but your (comfy) feet will surely thank you.

Easy to Wear Spring Looks

Breezy Boho Blouses and Crossbody Bags

Everyday style is just as important as when you turn that style dial up a notch for evening.  I have had a ton of readers message me asking about easy to wear Spring looks that are both comfortable and easy to wear everyday.  So ladies, this one is for you.

When it comes to easy to wear Spring looks, Breezy boho blouses and crossbody bags are two of this season’s biggest “get’s” and most wearable trends.

A loose flowy boho blouse is probably one of the comfiest things you can put on.   Easy to wear yet totally put together.  Pair it with my secret for comfort and confidence: high-waisted jeans.

After decades of being locked in the prison that is low-rise jeans (ladies you know what I mean) FINALLY high-rise is back!

Why do I love them?  Let me count the ways, first no muffin top (seriously they land just above where that muffin would spill over).  Second, no worries when you bend over about exposing the world to your bum crack, and third, the high rise of the jean allows you to wear tops that might have seemed a bit too short or cropped before without exposing your tummy.

Hallelujah!

Your search for the perfect everyday bag is over.  Totally on-trend, easy to pair, convenient, and carefree who doesn’t love a good crossbody handbag! This season it’s all about crossbody’s with chain straps and I am head over heels OBSESSED with Tory Burch’s Gemini Link Bag. Day to night perfection- this bag does double duty.  Pull the chain to create a double chain handle bag OR adjust the chain to wear it as a crossbody!

Toss on some long necklaces, a pair of comfy heels or wedges and you are set for whatever the day has in store for you.

Stylists Tip: Spring 2017 accessories are not about being quiet.   Mix and match shiny or metallic finishes with animal or floral prints to really make a style statement.
