Matte Lips are all the rage this season! Sophisticated and chic with a retro sensibility they deliver a velvety voluptuous pucker.
Straight from the runway’s designers like DVF, FENDI and Zac Posen showed us that Fall 2013’s matte lips aren’t just reserved for classic red but berry, wine tones, warm beige, nude and blush shades as well!
I’m Matte about Matte.
Matte lip colors tend to be more pigmented than creamy or glossy ones which allows them to create a beautiful bold lip plus they are longer wearing and less likely to feather.
Done right matte lips make a sophisticated sleek transition to Fall, a refreshing break from all of Spring/Summer’s glossy dewiness but done wrong can leave your lips looking dried, cracked and less than kissable.
There are a few simple do’s and don’ts to pulling off the Matte look.
DO EXFOLIATE
Matte formulas will cling to any dry part of the lips leaving them looking flakey and dry. So it is VERY important to exfoliate before applying.

DON’ T OVER APPLY
If you keep applying layer after layer to touch up you will end up with an uneven chalky patchy lips. Avoid this by wiping existing lipstick off before re-applying.
DO HYDRATE
The only way to properly hydrate is by drinking plenty of water! Dry lips are a symptom that you need to drink more water!
DON’ T BUY CHEMICAL NASTIES
Avoid ingredients like talc, alcohol, silicon and fragrances. These ingredients dry out your lips.
DON’ T LICK
The digestive enzymes in saliva suck up the lips natural moisture leaving them dry and chappy!

I’ve been hesitant to try matte lip color because I was afraid it would be too drying, but your tips make me want to give it a try!
I really, really, really, really want to master matte!
I love matte lips!! I think they work well with my skin type, which is on the oily side. When I try to wear bright red lips with regular lipstick I end up looking a lot like Robert Smith of the Cure…matte stays in place for me!
I never realized lipstick came in like a totally matte finish, which now seems kinda silly! I love the idea of a matte lip!
Love the look and the tips!
