LOTD: The Cape

IMG_0599

Capes swept across the Fall 2015 runways.   It seems almost every designer had their own version.

From long boho blanket styles at Burberry to Peacoat inspired silhouettes at Chloe and sophisticated Casablanca inspired designs at Lanvin designers across the board have proclaimed capes the new coat.

Chic and surprisingly easy to wear there is no need to be afraid of embracing the cape.  They pair well with just about any trend from edgy to uptown sophistication.

There’s just something so je ne sais qoui about capes, maybe it’s the clean lines or the luxe drape, that makes them really chic even when you’re not trying to be.

This alluring, mysterious, and stylish coat alternative is so versatile that it can be styled with dresses and skirts for evening or paired down with jeans and boots for day.

Today’s look of the day features a crowning jewel in my collection, a vintage 1960’s Pendleton Woolen Mills cape for some Christmas tree shopping at Downtown Summerlin.

To me this cape sings Fa La La La La.  Everytime I wear it I am instantly in the holiday mood- straight out of a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie.

I paired this ah-mazing cape with black fitted jeans, an Alexander McQueen tote, a lace bib front Ralph Lauren blouse and a velvet neck tie to create an easy city day look.

The Melrose and Market suede boots were my Black Friday score.  I got them for $1 at Nordstrom Rack.  SERIOUSLY!  They were in the clearance section then with the Black Friday additional 30% off it took the price down to $21- I then used my $20 Nordstrom Reward Note so I only went out of pocket $1!  I am in love with them!

The variety of textures helps add depth to the all black look while the cape gives it that jingle your bells pop of color.
